WHAT IS NET?

NET stands for National Evangelization Team. NET Teams travel for eight months putting on authentically Catholic retreats and events for young people throughout the country. The Mission of NET Ministries is to challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church. NET Ministries is an international youth ministry organization, and it fulfills its mission by:

• Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ through a personal witness of faith.
• Inviting young people to live for Christ
• Forming young people in Christian character through the study and practice of their faith
• Equipping youth workers and young adults with the ministry skills needed for evangelization.

THE DETAILS

Please eat dinner before meeting at Archbishop Murphy at 6 p.m. on Friday (directions below). If parents need to reach their son or daughter for emergencies, call Daniel Miller at (208) 863-1134. The retreat will end at 5 p.m. on Saturday, at which time parents may pick up their son or daughter at AMHS.

WHAT TO BRING

Sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, comfy and warm clothing, Bible, pen, notebook/journal, a snack to share (cookies, granola, licorice, etc.), flashlight

WHAT NOT TO BRING

iPods & MP3 Players, cell phones (we will collect them at the start of the retreat), alcohol, tobacco, & illegal drugs, weapons (including knives)

DIRECTIONS TO RETREAT

• From I-5, take the 128th Street exit, Exit #186.
• Turn east onto 128th Street and proceed about 2.5 miles (Note: 128th becomes 132nd at the Bothell-Everett Highway).
• Go through the light at 35th Avenue SE, and watch for the AMHS reader board sign on your left.
• Turn left on 39th Avenue SE, just after Buffalo Square and the Chevron Gas Station. (If you pass Penny Creek Elementary School you’ve just missed our driveway.)
• Follow 39th to the end of the road, which is the beginning of the school’s property.

Join us for super fun times!

We’ll play several rounds of Indoor laser Tag using advanced “Battlefield Live” Laser Guns.  Trained referees will moderate different Laser Tag scenarios. We’ll also have a bunch of other games and activities—or you can just hangout!

Here is my own tongue-in-cheek response: an equally uninformed and non sequitur filled attack on water:

Why I hate water, but love to be hydrated.
Hydration>Water
What if I told you that water is here to be dry?
What if I told you that being hydrated doesn’t make you a fish?
I mean, if water is so great, why has it started so many wars?
Why does it freeze in the arctic, but fail to keep the desert cool?
Tells single mom’s that they don’t need water if they have ever drank soda.
Water preaches hydration, but another thing it practices.
Water will wash away God’s people, it did it to Noah.
They can’t fix their problems, so they just wash it.
Not realizing that drinking water is like spraying perfume on a casket.
The problem with Water, is it never gets to my core
it is like behavior modification, like a long list of chores
Let’s mix it cool-aid, make it look nice and neat
I ain’t Judging (wait, yes I am), I just saying
there is a problem if people only know you are thirsty from your Facebook.
It is like saying you play for the Lakers, just because you bought a Jersey.
See, this was me too but no one seemed to be on to me.
Acting like a water boy, while I was addicted to saltine crackers.
I spent my whole life building this façade of hydration,
But now that I have water, I boast in my weakness.
I don’t have to hide my failure, I don’t have to hide my thirst
Because it doesn’t depend on me, it depends on H20
Why I was hydration’s enemy, and certainly not a fan
I looked down and said “I want that, man”
Which is why I hate water, and those who drink it I call fools.
Do you see, this is so much better than just drilling some wells?
Let me clarify, I love water. But if you tried to hydrate water, would they mix within?
Now, back to the point, one thing is vital to mention
Water and hydration are on opposite spectrum
One is the work of God, the other is a man-made invention
Water says drink, hydration says done.
So for water, no, I hate it. In fact, I literally despise it.

Jesus is the Source and Summit of our faith. How can we grow closer to him? We will find out at this weekend retreat—and hopefully clime a little closer to him

Who can attend Summit?
Any High School Teen who has been to at least one Youth Group meeting or regularly attends mass at St. Mary. Everyone is welcome—you don’t even have to be Catholic. (So bring your friends!)

And please don’t be like these brats–who were angry that they didn’t get a $700 phone to celebrate the birth of Our Lord. (These people need Jesus!)

Join 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders from Everett, Marysville, and Snohomish for our annual Middle School fall retreat! Yes…you’ll be taking time to play some intense battlefield Laser Tag… but the real revolution will be in our hearts and minds as we are transformed through a very real encounter with Jesus Christ!
