Confirmation

Confirmation

“Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.”

- The Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1316

Confirmation Preparation is a two year processes.

For the first year of Confirmation preparation, we ask the candidates and their parents  to be actively Catholic and involved in the community. Specifically we ask that they attend mass, participate in Youth Group, and be involved in some service or ministry. This is what any normal active Catholic would do and most teens already do this. In order to ensure the teen is ready for confirmation, we will track their progress.

If the candidate fulfills the requirements for Year One, they will automatically be enrolled in the Year Two program. In addition to the Year One expectations of being actively Catholic and involved in the community, there will be a 15 session intensive class which goes over the basics of Catholic Doctrine, an overnight retreat, and two one day retreats to prepare them to receive the sacrament in May 2014.

Parents and Sponsor are an integral part of Confirmation Preparation and are asked to be actively involved in the candidates formation and (most importantly) be good example of living a Catholic life.

Please contact the Youth Ministry office if you need to register for Confirmation. The Deadline is Oct 15th.
